On Saturday, October 25th, Thundercat (Steven Lee Bruner) brought his 2025 North America tour to Brooklyn Paramount in Brooklyn, New York. The virtuoso bassist, singer, record producer, and songwriter from Los Angeles entertained the packed New York City crowd with a mix of hits from past releases, including 2020’s It Is What It Is and 2013’s Apocalypse.

For nearly an hour and a half, Thundercat filled the venue with the vibrations of his exceptional bass skills, coupled with his unique improvisation of hip-hop, jazz, and funk sound. Thundercat kicked off the evening with “I Wish I Didn’t Waste Your Time,” “I Love Louis Cole,” and “Black Qualls,” taking a brief but personal moment between each of these songs to express tributes to friends and influences who have inspired his artistry. Woven into his set were popular collaborations, most notably “No More Lies” with Tame Impala and “Children of the Baked Potato” with Remi Wolf. Wolf, who surprised the crowd by appearing on stage, also helped to close the evening by duetting with Thundercat on a cover of the late D’Angelo’s “Lady,” as well as on “Them Changes.”

Despite the night ending with one of his most famous tracks, the audience was truly taken on a journey, and what a journey it was. Be sure to catch Thundercat on the road on the remaining dates of his 2025 North America tour to be a part of that journey.
