Khalid’s It’s Always Summer Somewhere Tour made its stop at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre in San Diego on June 22, bringing fans together for a show filled with some of his most popular records and latest music. With his early buzzing hit songs like “Location” and “Young Dumb & Broke,” Khalid has built a loyal fanbase through his relatable lyrics and incredible vocals. The San Diego stop featured opening performances from Angela Austria and 3Quency, who both did a great job warming up the crowd before he took the stage. Their performances helped segway the fans’ energy into Khalid’s headlining set.

From the photo pit, it was clear that Khalid’s stage production was designed to create a fun and immersive summer-concert experience. Colorful lighting, vibrant visuals, and large video screens helped bring each song to life while giving us photographers plenty of opportunities to capture great shots. Khalid took the stage, the crowd erupted with excitement and remained engaged throughout the entire set. He performed some favorites like “Location,” “Talk,” “Better,” and “Young Dumb & Broke,” creating some loudest moments of the night. During his set, Khalid regularly interacted with the audience, smiling, waving, and expressing his appreciation for the San Diego crowd. The connection between him and his fans felt genuine throughout the entirety of the show.

As the show came to a close, ending with his top song “Young, Dumb & Broke,” Khalid thanked the audience for spending their evening with him and delivered a memorable ending that left fans cheering long after the final song. The It’s Always Summer Somewhere Tour still has dates remaining across North America, with plenty of opportunities to catch the show live. From both a photographer’s and reviewer’s perspective, one of the standout parts of the night was how well Khalid’s vocals were while being able to connect with the audience throughout the whole set. Every part of the show felt authentic and personal, from the crowd interactions to the delivery of each song. Being able to capture him for the first time made the experience even more enjoyable.
