Jack Savoretti’s 2024 tour comes to an end and there is no city he would end his ‘Notti Romaniche’ (romantic nights) tour other than Naples, arguably the most romantic of all Italian cities, and a city that is at the core of traditional and contemporary Italian music. The tour started a week prior in his beloved Genova and touched all the main spots in Italy including Venice, Rome and Milan where Jack Savoretti was joined in a special show by friends a collaborators. Notti Romantiche is supporting his latest record Miss Italia which is his first work entirely sang in Italian. Savoretti felt the need to connect even more with his Italian roots after the passing of his father whom was his first port of call when writing new music.
Tonight, he plays the Acacia Theatre, on the hills of Naples. Doors open at 8:20 PM and as the crowd starts flocking in, the young Layana Oriot takes the stage and immediately captivates the audience playing a set of covers that defined her life thus far. The choice was a perfect mix of Italian classics and international hits such as The Police’s “Every Breath You Take.” Especially moving was her performance — supported by only an electric guitar — of Linkin Park’s Crawling, for which she decided to sit on the floorboards as to remember when she would sing the song sitting on the floor in her own bedroom as a kid.
A few minutes after 9 PM the lights go out and Jack Savoretti gets on stage with his band. Within 30 seconds of starting his set, he invited the audience to get up from their seats and gather under the stage to sing and dance with him. A clearly emotional Savoretti performs a complex set which balances songs sung in Italian, from his latest record Miss Italia and timeless classics sung in English. The setlist, as well as the record, celebrates both sides of his nature. The London-born Savoretti excellently blends his fascination for old-timey Italian singer-songwriters and his upbringing as a songwriter and musician born and raised in 20th century England. Tonight Jack Savoretti was electric, the band was super tight as in holding the singer in close hug and everyone in the audience contributed to the celebration of his long career.
