Home Front Packs a Punch in at LA’s Hollywood Palladium

Hailing from Alberta, Canada, Home Front brought their synth-infused post-punk sound to Los Angeles for two nights, opening for the legendary Cock Sparrer, whose last show in the city was 25 years ago. Hot on the heels of releasing their newest record, Watch It Die, they came out swinging, with the crowd raising their fists and singing along to anthems like “Nation” and “New Face of Death,” alongside songs from their debut album, Games of Power and a handful of new tracks from their latest effort.

Graeme McKinnon delivered a high-energy performance, jumping around the stage while engaging with crowd surfers. He wasn’t afraid to get up close and personal, allowing the crowd to sing along as he stood atop the barricade, fully immersing himself in the energy of the room. The band was firing on all cylinders and sounded as if you were listening to the record right then and there. Home Front truly set the tone for the night and had the crowd warmed up for the almighty Cock Sparrer.

Night one was a sold-out affair that served as a warm-up for the weekend, capped off by an album-release party at the Knucklehead—a venue that’s a fraction of the size of the Palladium but offers a chance to get up close and personal with the band. Home Front is quickly making a name for themselves, as there really isn’t anyone else out there who sounds quite like them. Give them a listen—you won’t be disappointed, especially if you’re a fan of bands like Blitz, New Order, or High Vis.
