Daisy Grenade Ignites The Masquerade in Atlanta

From being an opening act to headlining their first tour, Daisy Grenade sold out the Masquerade – Purgatory in Atlanta. The multi-level music hall had several shows happening at once which added to the buzz of the area. With the backing of Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and his DCD2 label signing Daisy Grenade, it’s easy to see Wentz’s influence including label mate Vienna Vienna opening the show.

Self proclaimed “Glimmer Rock”, out of Fresno, California, Vienna Vienna started with some tracks off their Latest EP, Entertain Me. Fans sang and bopped to the queer pop and ballads of singer James Barre. Ending their set with fan favorite “God Save The Queens,” the crowd was ready for the headliners.

Opening their set with “A Beautiful Woman Is A Weapon, I Guess That’s Why They Call Her A Bombshell,” Daisy Grenade with an overly exaggerated song title reminiscent of their Fall Out Boy predecessors. The New York natives brought their estrogen filled alt rock to a packed room with fans lined against the stage singing every word back to lead singers Dani Nigro and Keaton Whittaker. At one point during the song “Emily,” a fan was brought on stage to sing and dance with the band.

“It Must Be Me” brought the house down into an emotional moment between the DG girls and fans, as some cried during the song. They did a mix of new songs like “Girls Are So Lucky,” and classics that they closed their set with like “Sick In The City.” The energy of Atlanta will power the band through the end of their tour that ends this week in New York. You can catch Daisy Grenade at the Long Beach and Orlando Warped Tour dates, as well as Riot Fest in Chicago.
