Chance the Rapper poured out his soul at the Arizona Financial Theater stage on October 14th, as his And We Back Tour made its stop in Phoenix. The Chicago native performed with a packed venue to celebrate faith, black culture and his personal comeback. Chance opened with a mix of old favorites and new tracks from his recent album Star Line, blending songs with gospel-inspired melodies with rhythms that the crowd is familiar with.

Before Chance’s set, the crowd was treated to standout performances by his younger brother Taylor Bennett and Bay Area native LaRussell. Both delivered sets with pure passion and lyricism. Taylor’s performance exuded charm and confidence as he blended storytelling with his tight lyrics, while LaRussell’s crowd work made the whole audience at their feet. He played some of his songs with the crowd and was just at the center of the pit as he vibed with them, doing high-fives while they sang along to his poetic tracks.

When Chance hit the stage, everybody knew what to do. Everyone cheered in excitement as he took his fans through his musical evolution by performing tracks like “No Problem,” “Blessings,” and “All We Got.” On top of the 28 tracks he prepared for the night, he also added “Coco Butter Kisses” spontaneously in his encore because the crowd would not stop chanting it as he performed. He just laughed at it and gave them what they’d been asking since the start of the show.

Between songs, he paused to reflect on his journey as an independent artist and his gratitude toward fans who have supported him since Acid Rap. The production was visually stunning yet intimate, blending gospel aesthetics with old movie clips that reflected African-American culture as his recent project, Star Line, leaned heavily on this topic. Watching his show is like watching a 29-track music video with 90s movie cut scenes in between songs. It was an epitome of how gospel rap concerts should be done, and Chance is one of the best, if not the best to ever do this type of rap, and he clearly deserves all the love that his Phoenix fans had shown him.
