Family Dreams with Infinity Song in Carrboro

Dreamy lyricism, melodic harmonies, and a family bond are the recipe for success for Infinity Song. Infinity Song is an American soft rock quartet consisting of siblings Abraham, Angel, Israel, and Momo Boyd. The siblings have been performing since they were children, but made their mainstay as a band in 2006 when they would busk and play on the streets of New York until 2016, when the band was signed to Roc Nation by JAY-Z. With influences of classical, gospel, and jazz, the band has created a sound that honors their artistic uniqueness. Over the past five years, the band has gained popularity through viral social media videos, garnering millions of views. Infinity Song’s success has been a long time coming. With a tour appropriately named World Tour II, Infinity Song is piggybacking off their 2024 tour with more stops than ever in the U.S. Tonight’s show in Carrboro, North Carolina, at the intimate and popular local venue Cat’s Cradle, marks the band’s second return to the city.

It’s all about family on this tour as The Burney Sisters, a sibling duo redefining indie-folk, opened up the night. With a fresh sound that blends folk, rock, and Americana, Emma and Ella Burney were an ideal pick as an opener. Gracing the stage with only their microphones and guitars, the performance felt very personal and stripped-down, setting the perfect tone for the night that followed.

After the girls left the stage, Infinity Song’s father, John Boyd, introduced the band. He mentioned that “this has been 30 years in the making,” alluding to his children’s lifelong dream of performing and making music. He ended his opening speech by thanking the audience for supporting his children and their band. This heartfelt tribute introduced a soulful night of soft rock ballads with catchy lyrics. The set ranged from their viral singles, “Haters Anthem” & “Slow Burn,” to a cover of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. With minimal supporting instruments, three of the four band members playing a guitar, and the cozy venue, it felt more like a private concert than a public show. It was clear that the crowd was filled with passionate music lovers as they jumped, clapped, and sang along to every song that blared through the speakers. The best part is that no matter where or when you looked into the crowd, you could see beaming faces of smiling fans, with the most important fan, their father, standing front and center at the barricade.

Due to the band’s longevity and recent viral success, the crowd was a mixture of dedicated fans and new supporters buzzing to hear the siblings’ siren-like harmonies. No matter when you start listening, you are sure to be amazed by this band’s raw, unfiltered talent. Their stripped-down performances have an ethereal quality to them, creating a magical experience for the audience with every show. There are still shows in the U.S left, so be sure to check out one of their shows in a city near you!
