While She Sleeps: No Sleep for New York City

While She Sleeps, the British metalcore band from Sheffield, rocked New York City on Monday, April 7th. The night marked the fifth stop on their North American tour in support of their most recent release, Self Hell. The band, consisting of vocalist Lawrence ‘Loz’ Taylor, guitarists Sean Long and Mat Welsh, bassist Aaran McKenzie, and drummer Adam Savage, played to a packed Irving Plaza. The crowd was hyped to hear the band play following strong performances by both Bury Tomorrow and Vended.

The band kicked off their set with “Rainbows” and “Leave Me Alone,” both of which further energized the crowd. Not long into the set did the assembly line of crowd surfers begin making their way through the pit. Between songs, the ever-charismatic and unapologetic frontman Taylor engaged with fans with his humorous commentary. At one point, he towered over the crowd on the drum kit and showered the stage with water, causing the crowd to erupt in raucous cheers. Throughout the remainder of the night, the air was electric and the energy was palpable.
