Unstoppable Energy: Skillet Rocks Chicago’s Radius

It was another gloomy, rainy day in Chicago, IL but it didn’t stop the fans from filling out Radius Chicago to catch co-headline, rock legends Skillet and Seether. Accompanying the two headliners were up and coming bands Royale Lynn and Tim Montana.

Royale Lyn (Connor Hannan)

Kicking off the night was Royale Lynn, who first gained major success off her viral song “6 Feet Deep.” Coining her musical style of “punktry” combining her country style with her punk rock essence. While not as widely known yet, she is gaining attention for her engaging performances and distinctive sound, making her a promising figure in the music scene.

Tim Montana (Connor Hannan)

Up next to the stage was country rock artist, Tim Montana. Tim Montana delivered an energetic performance that seamlessly blended his country rock with high-energy performance. With powerful vocals and a band that matched his enthusiasm, Montana left fans wanting more long after the final notes faded.

Finally, the band with no introduction needed: Skillet — fresh off their recent album release Revolution. This was my second time covering Skillet and they have still yet to disappoint. As always, the band gives 120% energy from beginning to end. My cameras always seem to have difficulty keeping up with the energy the band gives out from beginning to end. Skillet’s lighting manager deserves major props with its dynamic lighting making it extremely easy to capture so many amazing photos.

One of the things I appreciate about John Cooper, lead singer and bassist, is the awareness of the problem with this country and that’s people’s unwillingness to listen to each other without arguing, and the lead singer took some time in the middle of the show to address it. As always, guitarists, Korey Cooper and Seth Morrison continue to be two of the most energetic guitarists in music. Last but certainly not least is world renowned drummer, Jen Ledger, who is always a pleasure to watch perform. Jen is one of the top drummers around and also provides an harmonic melody to a ton of Skillets tracks.

I think one of the things people need to know when they see a Skillet performance, is you’re not just seeing a concert, you’re seeing entertainment. From the individual performances of each member to their performance, a Skillet show is an explosive, adrenaline-fueled experience, featuring powerful instrumentals, captivating visuals, and the band’s passionate energy that electrifies the entire crowd.

Seether (Connor Hannan)

Closing out the night was rock legends Seether. Seether’s performance is a raw and intense experience, characterized by gritty guitar riffs and emotionally charged vocals. With their powerful stage presence and heartfelt performance, Seether creates an atmosphere that keeps the crowd fully engaged from start to finish. Highlights from their performance included some of their biggest hits like “Fine Again,” “Broken,” and “Remedy.”

Be sure to catch one of their remaining tour dates here.
