Two Minutes of Fury: I Prevail’s New Era Begins with ‘Violent Nature’

I Prevail’s latest single, Violent Nature, pulls no punches. It’s an unapologetic dive into the darker, more aggressive side of the band — a direction that feels both raw and intentional.

Lyrically, the track captures the chaos of an inner war. It reads like the soundtrack to someone wrestling with their demons, clinging to control, and giving in to rage all at once. It’s intense, emotional, and cathartic. This song doesn’t just tap into darkness — it lives there.

With the May 15th announcement of Brian Burkheiser’s departure, Violent Nature becomes a landmark moment. It marks the first track featuring Eric Vanlerberghe as the band’s sole vocalist — and he delivers with nothing short of fire. His performance is relentless, and it’s clear he’s stepping into this role with full force.

Musically, the track is a blast of controlled chaos — fast, sharp, and heavy. The guitar riffs are tight and menacing, the drumming hits like a machine gun, and the energy doesn’t let up for a second. Rather than two minutes of “nonstop aggression,” this is two minutes of pure, adrenalized release — the kind that makes you wish you were in the middle of a circle pit sweating out every ounce of the week’s frustration.

Vanlerberghe himself described the track as: “Aggressive, fast, and heavy. All packed into 2 minutes and 10 seconds. Turn it up and put your head through the f***** wall.”*
And honestly? That’s exactly what it feels like.

Violent Nature isn’t just a song — it’s a signal. I Prevail is embracing a more brutal, no-frills identity that could easily pull in new listeners while still satisfying long-time fans who crave something heavier. This track sets the tone for a new era — one where the band carves out their sound on their own terms, unfiltered and unafraid.

About I Prevail

Since forming in Metro Detroit, Michigan in 2013, metalcore/post-hardcore outfit I Prevail have enjoyed vast amounts of critical and commercial success. Their first album, 2016’s Lifelines, achieved gold status in both the US and Canada, while 2019’s TRAUMA repeated that accomplishment in Canada. The latter was nominated for Best Rock Album at that year’s Grammys, with single “Bow Down” also a contender for Best Metal Performance. 2022’s TRUEPOWER saw the band continue to forge their own musical path, refusing to conform to the expectations of the genre. Now, the band returns with Eric Vanlerberghe as the frontman and only singer ushering the band into their next chapter with the release of “Violent Nature.” Not only is this a new era, but it’s the best version of the band to date bristling with intention, passion and energy.
