“After nearly two decades, this will be the biggest and craziest show (of ours) you’ve ever seen,” announced The Devil Wears Prada earlier this summer. Backing up that claim was a stellar lineup of Greyhaven, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Like Moths to Flames, and Silent Planet, promising a night packed with some of the best riffs and breakdowns you could think of.
Greyhaven kicked off the show with an electrifying performance, showcasing tracks from their recent Stereo Grief EP. This was my first time seeing them live, and they absolutely delivered. Their aggressive riffs and endless blast beats, especially in songs like “Sweet Machine,” set the tone for the rest of the night ahead. Next up was SeeYouSpaceCowboy, who even though announced right before the tour left, delivered a phenomenal and aggressive 10-song set. While the setlist leaned heavily on tracks from their latest album, The Romance of Affliction, it also reached back to earlier releases including 2019’s Songs For the Firing Squad. Vocalist Connie Sgarbossa was a force, commanding the stage with an electrifying presence that perfectly complemented the bands’ relentless performance.
Like Moths to Flames took the stage next, continuing their nearly 15-year legacy of delivering hit after hit. This band remains one of the most consistent bands when it comes to growth, and the general consensus online echoes the same. Their setlist spanned their entire discography, offering longtime fans some treats. The highlight of the set was them performing “GNF,” a classic track from their debut album When We Don’t Exist, as a special request from SeeYouSpaceCowboy. Following them up was the legendary Silent Planet. With a setlist heavy on their latest Superbloom full length, Silent Planet snuck in some of their heavier bangers such as “Panic Room” and “Trilogy.” Their emotionally charged performance showcased this band’s ability to showcase narrative depth into their music; it is always a treat and spectacle to witness Silent Planet live.
By the time The Devil Wears Prada took the stage, you might have expected the audience to be completely worn out — they had every reason to be — but they still had plenty of energy left for what would be an unforgettable hour. With an 18 song heavy setlist spanning their entire career, The Devil Wears Prada delivered hit after hit. Their performance was pure energy and chaos, and somewhere in the chaos was a stellar guest vocal spot from SeeYouSpaceCowboy’s Connie Sgarbossa, a sentimental acoustic performance of “Cancer,” a couples gender reveal of their baby, and a grand finale that showered the venue in confetti. This wasn’t just a celebration of The Devil Wears Prada’s incredible career and legacy — it was also a tribute to everything metalcore has endured.
