Struck Dead, Yet Full of Life: Trivium Puts on a Lively Show in Edmonton

Trivium brought their heated Struck Dead tour to a rowdy crowd at Midway Music Hall, selling out the house on a brisk Monday night. The American heavy metal band has been rocking out since 1999, and is currently comprised of lead vocalist and guitarist Matt Heafy, guitarist and backing vocalist Corey Beaulieu, bassist Paolo Gregoletto, and newly added drummer Alex Rudinger.

Trivium brought along British metalcore band Heriot to kick off the lively night, followed by Ukrainian metal powerhouse Jinjer, with both bands warming up the mosh pit and sending crowdsurfers flying. The crowd was still ready for more when Trivium took the stage, blasting into the popular hit “In Waves” off their 2011 album of the same name.

After “Into the Mouth of Hell We March,” Heafy took a moment to ask if anyone had been at their last Edmonton show several years prior, to which he received rowdy cheers in response. He went on to say how he himself wasn’t even at that show, having been called back to his wife who went into labour with their twins — however, he did still manage to watch the livestream of the concert and was proud of the show his bandmates put on.

Leading into “Bury Me With My Screams,” Heafy detailed how the last year had been a particularly rough one, but through writing new material shared how their dedicated fans were a “guiding light” during the process. Their newest EP, Struck Dead, dropped on October 31, 2025, and the band powerfully performed the title track — a song that loudly illustrates the pain of defeat.

The dedication of Trivium fans is a notable feat of their live shows. From start to finish, devil horns were raised in the air, lyrics were screamed out, and circle pits flourished. Crowdsurfers constantly flew across the crowd, and fists were pumped in time Rudinger’s drum beats. Heafy, Beaulieu, and Gregoletto spent the show pacing and jumping around on stage, and amping up their audience with wild riffs and infectious energy. Their set spanned the length of their career, with older fans being thrilled to hear numerous songs from 2004’s Ascendancy album. After over two decades, Trivium continue to grow their passionate fan base with their heavy hitting music and show no sign of hitting the brakes.
