To celebrate 15 years of hits, Olly Murs would take his genre-defining discography to some of the UK’s biggest venues which would include 2 nights at the prestigious O2 Arena. From a complete unknown who the hearts of thousands in X Factort to a household name, the performance on Saturday the 17th of May highlighted his growth as not just a musician but as a person overall.

The evening would start with the rambunctious Trouble Maker which would quickly set the tone for what fans could expect going forward. As the tour was a celebration of what made Olly Murs, the setlist was a complete treasure trove of only the finest songs in his impressive discography. The lively London crowd would get to sing their hearts out to fan favourites such as “Please Don’t Let Me Go” and “Heart Skips A Beat” while also getting a surprise medley of covers including the likes of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” and Bon Jovi’s iconic “Loving On A Prayer.” Despite not being his music, Olly proved once again just how versatile his range can be and opened up a bit more about what inspired him to pursue such a passionate career.

The night wouldn’t have been completed without the effort put in by both Olly and his team. The performance was nearly flawless with the cheeky choreography adding an extra layer to the already beloved songs on the night. Olly is a master of working the crowd and his gestures and expressions almost always got the fans down the front smiling and laughing while he constantly echoed his love to the people up in the very last row of the sold-out arena! No matter where you were, you felt connected to the show.

To top off an incredible performance, the stage design helped to completely immerse the crowd. Simple on paper, a big LED panel screen with lights around the stage may seem generic but this allowed Olly’s more mischievous side to shine. From brightly coloured and vibrant lyrics to a man in a literal jockstrap being displayed at one point, the creativity only helped add more life to each song that was played. As a whole, Olly Murs’ first night of two in the O2 Arena felt like something truly special. Both the fans and the artists performing gave their all which made for a wonderful atmosphere which was both heartfelt and passionate to celebrate 15 years of excellence from Olly and the only thing in the minds of the fans as they left the arena was wondering if they can do the same again in another 15 years!
