September 25-27 marks another great year of music, rides, and food at Oceans Calling Festival in Ocean City, MD. As always the festival brings in the best talents from modern and classic indie/rock. From artists like Twenty One Pilots, Mumford & Sons, Matchbox Twenty, and Third Eye Blind amongst 40+ performances, you simply can’t be at the wrong stage. It is sure to be a hit from top to bottom. Maryland natives are always important to the festival, acts like O.A.R. and All Time Low fit that bill. The entirety of the festival takes place on the iconic Ocean City beaches/boardwalk, giving attendees an opportunity to visit the local shops and food hot spots situated inside the festival grounds.

Speaking of good eats, this is one of the only music festivals you’ll find with critically acclaimed chefs stopping by to show off some great recipes. Robert Irvine and Antonia Lofaso are among the group that will be hosting cooking demos throughout the weekend. Be sure to find Jason Biggs on stage who will let you know who is appearing next. Festival patrons can leave and re-enter as often as they would like until 7pm, so you can even go back to wherever you’re staying and test out anything fancy you see during the day.
Finally find your way over to Jolly Rogers Amusement Park, which is located on the festival grounds, entry is included in your Oceans Calling experience. If you find a gap in your schedule, or just want a better view of the show, you can take the time to ride atop the ferris wheel! As for local business, I will always mention my personal favorite ice cream shop, Kohrs Bros, where you can get one of the best orange vanilla twist soft serve ice creams you will ever have (a childhood classic for me). If you’re feeling absolutely crazy, stop down and get a spontaneous festival tattoo or launch yourself into orbit with the slingshot ride that will surely result in a funny video for your family and friends.
