On Saturday, April 5th, Eugene Hütz of the international punk rock band Gogol Bordello held the record release party for NYContinuity Vol. 1: New New York Does Old New York. The event was held to celebrate the compilation album released the day prior via his Casa Gogol Records.

Per Eugene Hütz (Gogol Bordello), whose band recently announced a European tour with support from English punk duo Bob Vylan, says the record is part of his mission to preserve NYC’s sonic culture and further sustain the legacy of punk and hardcore artists across all generations. The stacked roster for the evening included Twowayradio, Pons, The Yagas, Puzzled Panther, Grace Bergere, and Mary Shelley.

The album will include their newest single “Life Of A Widow,” and previously released songs “The Crying Room” and “She’s Walking Down.” The alt-rock band, which includes front-woman Vera Farmiga and her husband Renn Hawkey, drummer Jason Bowman, guitarist Mark Visconti, and bassist Mike Davis, was joined by special guests, actor Liev Schrieber and musician Eugene Hütz.

Both Farmiga and Hütz are of Ukrainian heritage and released a live performance video of the popular Ukrainian love song “Chervona Ruta.” Their goal remains to shed light on Ukrainian culture and language, as well as to raise money for Support Action Ukraine, an organization launched at the start of the war to provide humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian population.
