After releasing their first album in over a decade, Still Kids, the New Kids On The Block have hit the road for their Magic Summer Tour. The tour stopped in Charlotte, NC at the PNC Music Pavilion on July 27, 2024. The show opened with DJ Jazzy Jeff (of Fresh Prince fame) playing throwback jams to get the crowd singing and dancing. Next up was the global 80’s icon Paula Abdul who had the audience in awe starting her set with the platinum single, “Straight Up” all the way to closing it out with “Forever Your Girl.”
The audience was encouraged through social media to “dress up in neon, show your magic” and magical it was. In a sea of neon and scrunchies, New Kids took the stage with high energy and bright backdrops reminiscent of the band’s doll boxes from the 90’s. Opening with a song from their new album “Magic” and continuing with hits like “The Right Stuff” and the heart throb ballad “Please Don’t Go Girl.”
Singing and dancing with the band, some lucky fans got to enjoy the show from the side of the stage on both sides. Saving the best for last while ending with “Step by Step” and “Hangin’ Tough,” you could still see the neon glowing through all of the confetti. The Magic Summer Tour continues on through the Northeast and Midwest through all of August and ending in New Jersey in September. Highly recommend getting your neon ready and hitting a show from this tour if it’s coming near you! The energy and crowd interaction from this show made it special for everyone attending, both young and old.
