The doors opened at The Underground in Charlotte, NC to fans donning their favorite plaid outfits to match the Just For One Night tour motif. Many were unsure this show would happen as MisterWives canceled their show the night before in Baltimore due to lead singer Mandy Lee having no voice. The band has mentioned possibly “taking a break,” so this tour could very well be the last time we see this iteration for a long time, although no announcements have been made.
Opening the show was the mix of Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, in a blender with snarky savage lyrics from Meg Smith dressed as a heavenly angel. Next up was a synth pop rock group Joan from Little Rock, AR taking the stage. Lastly with the anticipation high, MisterWives took the stage, opening up with “Organized Chaos.” The rest of the show was full of crowd favorites like “Coloring Outside the Lines,” to “Superbloom,” and a latest hit “Nosebleeds” where Mandy jumped into the crowd to sing with them.
For having been sick, she didn’t miss a beat and carried on hitting impossibly high notes all the while dancing into the encore. The show ended with a classic hit of “Our Own House.” The tour only has two shows left, and with the uncertainty of the band staying together, they made sure to leave everything out there with their fans. The tour has two more stops in Florida, and then MisterWives will join Andrew McMahon on the Holiday from Real cruise on the Norwegian Gem.
