Lulu Simon Shines as the Sun Sets Over Chicago

Lulu Simon kicked off the night at Huntington Bank Pavilion in Chicago on June 29th as the opener for Madison Beer’s The Locket Tour. The indie-pop singer-songwriter brought an intimate feel to the massive venue, that was originally supposed to be at Aragon Ballroom but got upgraded to accommodate Madison Beer’s massive stage setup, while fellow opener Thuy helped set the tone before the Madison took over later in the evening.

Despite only having a handful of songs, Simon kept the crowd engaged with performances of “Misty,” “Strangers,” “Happy Again,” and “Not Crying Anymore,” while her cover of One Direction’s “Night Changes” earned one of the loudest reactions of the set. Despite the intense city winds and 95-degree heat, Lulu Simon and guitarist Jacob Brown delivered a relaxed, easy going performance that resonated with the early crowd, who gave plenty of energy back throughout the set.

Although her set was short, Lulu Simon made a strong impression and proved to be a great choice to open the tour. With The Locket Tour continuing across the U.S. through July, fans who arrive early for upcoming dates should make a point to catch her performance, you might just leave with a few new songs added to your playlist.
