Lewis Capaldi Shines in Ireland After 2 Year Hiatus

The Scottish singer made a beautiful and heartfelt comeback in Dublin for his first Irish date out of two, following a two-year break taken to prioritize his mental health. Lewis Capaldi has always been honest about his struggles with anxiety, stress, and more recently, his diagnosis with Tourette’s Syndrome. That openness has only deepened the connection he shares with fans — there was something very fitting about him opening his set with his deeply emotional new track “Survive.” As expected, and in classic Capaldi fashion, the song hit hard. You could feel the raw emotion in the air, with many teary eyes in the crowd — which was definitely not for the last time that night.

From the first note, the crowd made sure Lewis knew just how missed he was. They didn’t hold back. By singing every line, cheering with wild affection, and losing themselves in the moment; fans created this atmosphere of pure warmth and welcome. It clearly meant a lot to him. Just a few songs in, he was left speechless — standing still for a moment to just soak it all in. It was one of those rare live music moments where the love in the room felt almost tangible.

Lewis brought the night to a close with the massive hit “Someone You Loved,” which turned into a full-blown, word-for-word singalong from the crowd. An emotional and cathartic ending to an already unforgettable show. Before leaving the stage, he took a moment to thank everyone and added, with his usual cheeky charm: “I love coming here, I can’t think of a better place to end the tour than Dublin. […] I’ll be ran out of Glasgow for saying this, but Ireland is the best crowd.”

Lewis Capaldi will be back on Irish soil this summer with several shows lined up, including two major dates in Marlay Park, Dublin in June. After a night like this one, it’s safe to say that we will be counting down the days.
