On a beautiful Chicago October night, Jess Glynne’s US Tour made its way to The Vic Theatre in downtown Chicago. In support was up and coming pop artist Leah Kate. The Vic is one of my favorite places to shoot at, with its great lighting, atmosphere, and security always keeping the walkways clear. Over 100 years old, the venue boasts a 1400 capacity that was near packed for the evening.
First up was Leah Kate, Leah Kate is an up-and-coming pop artist who first got her singing career started making covers on YouTube. She then released several EPs that gained her massive steam on TikTok, such as Fuck Up The Friendship (which currently has 89 million streams on Spotify) and 10 Things Hate About You (now 254 million streams) all while boasting over 838 thousand followers on TikTok. As soon as Leah takes the stage, the energy in the venue skyrockets. Always dressed in a stylish, edgy outfits that reflects her bold and outgoing personality, she immediately connects with the audience. Her performance is a dynamic mix of pop anthems and emotional songs, showcasing her impressive vocal range. Leah often shares personal stories between songs, adding an intimate touch to the high-energy vibe. Leah played a 12 song setlist that featured some of her hits such as “Fuck Up the Friendship” “Super Over” “10 Things I Hate About You” while even throwing a “Hollerback Girl” by Gwen Stefani cover.
Finally, up to the stage was Jess Glynne. Jess is a British singer-songwriter known for her powerful voice and genre-blending sound that combines elements of pop and soul. Rising to fame with chart-topping hits like “Rather Be” and “Hold My Hand,” she captivated the audience with her heartfelt lyrics and vibrant stage presence. Coming off her third studio album titled Jess and opened the show with her first single off the album, “Silly Me.” Joining Jess on stage for the evening was a full band along with some powerful backup singers to help drive her powerful performance. Her 18-song setlist featured a mix of her chart-topping hits, along with songs off her latest album.
Jess often takes moments to engage with the audience, sharing personal stories and inspiring messages about love and resilience. The stage featured vibrant lights and captivating visuals, enhancing the experience as she moves seamlessly between upbeat tracks and heartfelt ballads.
