Interview: Danny Singh’s Punk Fusion Dream

We caught up with Danny Singh, who recently released a track titled “TOXIC” with Colombian producer Lunas, at his release party & rave in Bushwick to unveil the song to his fans. Danny describes his sound as “Punk n B,” a genre-blending fusion of punk rock and R&B, drawing inspiration from artists like André 3000, Sa-Ra, Frank Ocean, and JPEGMAFIA.

Q: Tell us about your newest release, “TOXIC.”
A: This is my first drop with Lunas, and we’re out celebrating it tonight. It’d describe it as my first techno / daze / jungle / dance / R&B release.

Q:  Where do you pull the most influence?
A:  My inspiration comes more from the R&B / punk scene, while Lunas pulls more of his from the dance scene, so we meet in the middle for our collabs.

Q:  Describe your typical creative process.
A:  I constantly explore sounds that spark a moment or memory in my head and base my freestyling off of that. My inspiration for creating new music comes from a mix of both life and sounds.

Q:  How has your style changed or stayed the same over time?
A:  My style has evolved as I’ve gotten older. I look for simpler ways of conveying my message, while at the same time making sure people can dance and feel something when they are listening to my music.

Q:  What are you most excited for tonight?
A:  I’m excited for the song to finally be out. We’ve been  holding onto this gem for a long time so we can’t wait for the world to hear it.

“TOXIC” is available to stream now on all major platforms.
