I Prevail and Halestorm Shake Up the Windy City

This monster co-headlining tour is one not to miss — featuring I Prevail and Halestorm, along with supporting acts who could headline their own tours, Hollywood Undead and Fit For a King. Both headliners are coming off their most recent 2022 albums;  I Prevail with True Power, and Halestorm with Back from the Dead — and another currently in the works. It’s a fitting tour with both bands recently collaborating on a new single “Can U See Me In The Dark?” for Halestorm’s upcoming album.

Fit For A King (Connor Hannan)

.On a warm, sunny Sunday evening, you couldn’t have asked for better weather especially with Chicago’s ever-so-unpredictable weather patterns. Fit For a King, a metalcore band from Dallas, led off the evening early to get the crowd warmed up while fans continued to pour in. Up next was Hollywood Undead, a 5-piece rock/rap group from Los Angeles who need no introduction. The legendary group kicked up the energy with some of their hits “California Dreaming,” “Everywhere I Go,” and ended it with their signature “Undead” — a song that helped broaden their audience with it’s feature in the Madden football series. One of the coolest things about the group is that everyone plays a role in vocals, which is a rare thing to see in bands.

Up next was co-headliner, Halestorm, from Red Lion, PA. Halestorm is a four-piece rock group founded by the Hale siblings Lzzy (vocals and guitar) and Arejay (drums and backing vocals) back in 1997. Going on almost 27 years, Halestorm showed no signs of slowing down. Lzzy’s voice is still as strong and powerful as ever putting on a 12 song setlist, which started off with arguably one of their biggest hits, “I Miss The Misery.” The fast paced, energetic lighting was something I’ll also never forget — as it was overflowing with strobes, flashes and hyperactive visual effects.

Finally, last up to bat, was I Prevail of Detroit, MI. Lead by vocalists Brian Burkheiser and Eric Vanlerberghe, the band first saw their rise to fame with their cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” back in 2014. They have since released 4 albums, with multiple Grammy nominations. If I had to describe their set in 2 words, I would choose: RAW POWER. From Brian’s melodic voice to Eric’s deep, powerful screams, the band is constantly moving and engaging the crowd. Even though they’re the newest band out of the entire lineup, it’s no surprise that they connect deeply with their fans through their music. The audience knew every single lyric to each of their songs. I Prevail put on a 13-song setlist that included their biggest hits “Blank Space” and “Breaking Down” — also bringing out Lzzy for their recent collaboration track, “Can U See Me In The Dark?”

For the price of a ticket, you can’t beat what you get with this powerful rock performance from these four artists. Be sure to catch one of their remaining tour dates here!
