As an avid concert goer, I can truthfully say that Hotel Mira puts on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The Canadian alt-rock – comprised of vocalist Charlie Kerr, guitarist Clark Grieve, bassist Mike Noble, and drummer Cole George – brought their Pity Party tour to a sold-out Midway Music Hall in Edmonton on a brisk Thursday night. The show was all party, no pity as the band performed new tracks from their 2025 album Pity Party and melancholic deep cuts.
Fellow Canadian acts The Royal Foundry and Uncle strut kicked off the night before Hotel Mira walked onstage to Beastie Boys’ infamous track “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)” and flew straight into one of their newest songs, “America’s Famous Pastime.”

Kerr, who is also an actor, doesn’t shy away from bringing his theatrics to the stage – in fact, that may be the most memorable part of a Hotel Mira show. Right from the get go, Kerr was shaking his hips across stage and encouraging the crowd to sing along, frequently pointing the microphone in their direction. George’s drum beats provided the perfect rhythm for a dance party, with Noble and Grieve providing upbeat grooves that complemented the energy.

“Speaking Off the Record” saw Kerr stepping offstage and performing in the middle of the crowd, taking the time throughout the track to interact with the passionate fanbase. Kerr then returned for the encore alone, an acoustic guitar in tow. He performed a cover of Chappell Roan’s “Red Wine Supernova” and “A Song for Daisy” before the rest of the band joined him for their popular tracks “Fever Pitch” and “Southern Comforting.” The final song of the night wound up as a heartfelt sing-along between Kerr and the crowd, a satisfying bookend to the engaging performance. As the final notes rang out, I’m positive I wasn’t the only one wishing that night would never end.
