A night of cinematic soundscapes emerged as Nashville-based alternative pop band In Color graced the stage of the iconic venue, Cat’s Cradle Back Room in Carrboro, NC. This standing room only music venue and nightclub is a place where many growing bands make their mark on local fans. In Color was no exception to this trend. With a full house and a refreshing atmosphere, the quartet delivered a dynamic performance that left the crowd buzzing.

Featuring members Holden Clontz, Matthew Hastings, Val Hoyt, and Miles Laderman, In Color was formed in 2024 during a snowstorm. This group of friends blends classic alternative with modern pop grooves to produce an introspective sound. The group gained traction with their 2025 debut single “Headlights,” which currently has surpassed 12 million Spotify streams. Shortly after this single’s success, the group released their debut EP “Snow Day”, a title that pays homage to the band’s creation.

As the fourth stop on their first headlining tour, the Carrboro set list included tracks like “Holiday Rd” and “Is There Anyone” from their EP, as well as several unreleased songs. In Color’s tunes are honeyed with slick chords and tender lyrics paired with strong bass lines that rattle your bones. However, the band’s chemistry is what really transcends the sound, as you can tell how comfortable the group is playing together. The transitional moments are where their friendship really shines. Between melancholy lyrics, the group jokes around with sound bites and inside jokes. Interwoven with the moody multicolored stage lights, this set felt both emotionally charged and relaxed.

Lead singer Matthew muses, “…these are some of my best friends on the stage, and this is what we love to do”. Matthew speaks in high hopes of a full album coming soon and thanks the fans for being here and singing along, and the band closes this headlining show with their hit “Headlights.”
In Color has more tour stops in April, so be sure to snag a show in a city near you, or catch the group supporting Canadian musician Jutes, later this fall.
