Dropkick Murphys Deliver a Magical Pre-St. Patty’s Performance in Ohio

It may have been the last day of February, but it certainly felt like St. Patrick’s Day when Dropkick Murphys brought the party to a sold-out crowd at Kemba Live in Columbus, Ohio on February 28.

Kicking off said party on a high note was punk band Teenage Bottlerocket. The intensity these guys immediately brought to the stage was infectious. So many people could be seen jumping up and down and a few were even singing along. Singer Ray Carlisle took advantage of a giant box that went from the stage to the barricade (a Dropkick Murphys staple) to interact with the crowd and jump about. This set was the perfect way to start the night, and I look forward to seeing them perform in the future.

The Menzingers (Tiffany Detzel)

Next to the stage were The Menzingers, a clear crowd favorite. So many people could be heard singing along and seen fist pumping throughout the performance. The band was loving this admiration, as I don’t think I saw any member without a smile. Lots of fun was had by all, so check them out when they tour near you!

The lights have fully dimmed and the beautiful tune “The Foggy Dew” has begun. That can only mean one thing. THE BOYS ARE BACK AND THEY’RE LOOKING FOR TROUBLE! That’s right, Dropkick Murphys have burst onto the stage. Singer Ken Casey immediately makes his way to the front row barricade to interact and sing along with the crowd. Every other member on stage can be seen bouncing around as much as possible as well. As with every band tonight, the crowd can be heard singing their hearts out.

Before the band plays their fourth song of the night, Ken mentions an audience member holding a sign with the words “Please Marry Us.” He mentions that he was ordained to perform marriages a while ago and is happy to do so. We were treated to a funny, yet heartwarming vow exchange and it is safe to say, this was a moment none present will ever forget. DKM is such a fun band to see live and there are still a handful of dates left on this tour, so be sure to check it out. They will also be touring with Bad Religion for the Summer of Discontent starting in July, so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.
