DENZEL CURRY KICKS OFF HIS MISCHIEVOUS SOUTH TOUR IN PHOENIX

Denzel Curry fired up the Phoenix hip–hop scene as he kicked off his Mischievous South Tour at the Van Buren on March 31st. The sold-out show was also graced by his openers Kenny Mason, 454 and Clip — some of the hottest up-and-coming names in the rap scene right now.

Clip set the tone right for the night as she meant business at the start of the show. She played “SAD B!ITCH” and one minute into the song, she found herself in the middle of the crowd performing it. The New York rapper was having a blast as she was surrounded by fans performing her hits in the pit. The Van Buren energy never came down as Clip was followed by 454 right away, starting off hard. The New York-via-Florida rapper brought his original sound and reminded the crowd why he’s in this epic lineup. He closed out his set with “Sanjuro”, one of the crowd favorites that made everyone circle around the pit.

Before the main act, Kenny Mason was the right rapper to be there. He lit up the stage and had everybody in the palm of his hands when he performed his hit song with JID! called “Stick.” Everyone contributed to the loud and out-of-this-world energy when they synchronously sang the song while jumping up and down. The Atlanta rapper also performed his hit song “Angelic Hoodrat” which set off mosh pits and headbanging from wall to wall. His charisma and stage presence were undeniable, paired up with his relentless performance style, Kenny proved he’s not just a warm-up act but also one of the best out there.

When the stage was set for Denzel Curry, he didn’t waste any time and started off with a banger song, “Act A Damn Fool.” It was one of the loudest hip-hop crowds I’ve ever witnessed in a while as the audience rapped to every word. One of the most notable moments in his setlist was when he rapped his “DIET_” over Kendrick Lamar’s “tv off” beat. The crowd erupted from the get-go, transforming the venue into mayhem. Curry’s seamless interaction with the audience was also solid that night as he brought two fans to perform his hit song “Hot One” on stage. That moment solidified the evening as an unforgettable experience for all in attendance.
