Crown the Empire Proves They’re Not Dead Yet to a Full House in Los Angeles

Crown the Empire brought their Not Dead Yet Tour to The Regent in Los Angeles recently on August 3, 2024 with a splendidly hardcore roster in tow. Joining them were Canada natives Oni, Orlando’s own Dark Divine and hometown friends Capstan to create a full course evening of metalcore madness. Each band brought their own flare to the show leaving the crowd engaged and excited. Oni kicked off the evening, drawing in the crowd immediately with their melodic riffs to dip our toes in.

Oni caught attention of attendees right away as they cruised through their catchy opening set. The crowd awakened as the band mastered live renditions of their hit songs “War Ender,” “Control” and “Aura.” Up next, Capstan took the stage and delivered a hard hitting performance that they are known for. Completely underrated, the Florida natives are known for their crushingly heavy breakdowns paired with emotional lyrics and moments of devastation that could break your neck. Fan favorites from their set this evening included “Wax Poetic” and “Stars Before the Sun.” Up next, Dark Divine.

Dark Divine might have a lot in common with Capstan but they sure have their individual flare separating them apart from the rest. These Florida boys self proclaim to “make music music for people who like to get spooky;” and to be quiet honest they couldn’t have described their aesthetic any better. The level of production to their set in regards to appearance and their sound were unmatched. The band played through a variety of hits from their two recent albums Halloweentown and Deadly Fun. As their set came to a close, a buzz lingered in anticipation for the headliner: Crown the Empire.

The lights dimmed, the crowd erupted and Crown the Empire took the stage. Andy Leo immediately commanded the crowd’s attention with his powerful tone that is rarely seen in the mental scene during the opening song “Call To Arms.” His words punched with aggressive metalcore moments to contrast moments of deep emotion resulting in a whirlwind of emotion that was put into the song, and poured back out through the performance. The band soared through an array of their hits, even treating the audience with an insane cover of Gorillaz “Clint Eastwood/Superstar.” The audience kept alive for every hit, even through the epic set closer, “Makeshift Chemistry.”

The Not Dead Yet Tour will continue its North American dominance with stops in Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, and New York City still up on the schedule. Don’t miss your opportunity to see these four bands slay together for one fantastic night of good ol’ therapeutic hardcore bliss.
