Ethan Bortnick (Dwight Patao)

Ethan Bortnick, the opening act of the night who’s known for being a musical prodigy for blending classical and contemporary influences, delivered a performance that surely earned him new fans that night. His set showcased his exceptional piano skills and emotive vocals, engaging the audience and setting high standards. Ethan used pretty much the whole stage to deliver a very energetic show to cater to all sides of the crowd while at the same time going back to his piano in the middle of the stage to deliver impressive classical solos. This show just proved that he’s one of the classical artists out there to watch out for.

Following Bortnick, BoyWithUke took the stage, delivering a 20-song set that kept everyone on their toes. It was a very lively crowd that night being half of it were kids, you can tell that the Korean-American singer resonates really well with his younger audience. Known for viral hits like “Toxic” and “Two Moons,” his lo-fi charm and raw lyrics created a very warming atmosphere at the Arizona Financial Theater while everyone sang along to every lyric of his old and new songs.

One of the highlights of the night was when Charley started “fishing” for a fan. It’s become a tradition in his show that he would take out a toy fishing rod and he would cast it to the crowd and whoever catches it will join him on stage for a song. One girl was lucky to catch it and sang “Can You Feel It?” together with the singer. Aside from that, in between songs, he made his show more meaningful by sharing introspective ideas about his past experiences and how he came up with some of the songs as well as his inspirations in writing them.
