Every year, the grounds of Biddinghuizen in The Netherlands transform into ‘a Campingflight to Lowlands Paradise’ with festival Lowlands, their 31st edition taking place on August 15, 16 and 17 this year.
The festival’s very extensive lineup features headliners Chappell Roan and Queens of the Stone Age, with a third to be announced soon, after the cancellation of A$AP Rocky this week. Focused on showcasing more upcoming artists next to these headliners, they also feature Fontaines D.C., Raye, CMAT, Lola Young, Suki Waterhouse, EKKSTACY, Spencer Sutherland, Vampire Weekend and dozens more on one of the eight music stages.
The festival is unique in not only featuring music, as there’s also an extensive lineup of comedy, theater, movies, science, street theater, dance, literature and visual arts. With workshops about microplastics, talks about autism and a writing competition on site, there’s more than enough to do for everyone, as they have a whopping 12 stages in total with 250+ acts and performances. For the people with trouble choosing between all the different options, they can still decide to go to the theme park Walibi next door as well, for a slight discount.
The entire experience wouldn’t be complete without 24-hour-party tent ArmadiLLow next to the camping grounds for a weekend filled with good vibes and little to no sleep. The festival is not called a ‘campingflight’ for no reason, after all.
