On March 13th, Killswitch Engage headlined The Theater at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas. Their Consequence Tour had supporting acts Kublai Khan, Fit For A King, and Frozen Soul. Killswitch Engage was formed back in 1999, but the band just released their newest album, This Consequence — 26 years after their initial debut. The show was sold out and the arena was filled to the rim. The night started with Frozen Soul, who had a great audience already in attendance early on for their opening set at 6:30pm. Fit For A King came in swinging next with some heavy hitting songs. Following them, the main supporting act, Kublai Khan, tore the walls down — preparing the fans for the legends themselves: Killswitch Engage.

Few bands have the staying power that Killswitch Engage has. The evening aura was indicative of their influence. Ushering in their 8th album, the set featured songs like “Rose of Sharyn,” “My Curse” and the newly released “Discordant Nation.” It was refreshing to see Jesse back to full-form — Killswitch’s energy was through the roof. Another highlight of the evening was when Howard Jones came from backstage to perform “The Signal Fire” with Jesse, which took many of the fans by surprise — but with positive reactions.

The show was ended with “My Last Serenade,” topping off a powerful setlist. The crowd was anticipating an encore, but the lights came on shortly thereafter — telling the fans that it was time to go home. The energy from this particular show did not disappoint in the City of Sin, evident in the overheard conversations in passing as we exited the venue after the show. Killswitch Engage will continue this tour, with about 20 more shows through the East Coast and Canada. Sold out venues are definitely on the horizon and we just know fans are eagerly anticipating shows in their respective cities. We are looking forward to the continued success of Killswitch Engage and for many more songs and albums to come.
