Toro y Moi (Chaz Bear) brought his funky R&B-inspired beats to a packed Terminal 5 (New York City) crowd on Friday, February 14th. Toro (vocals, guitar, keyboard) was supported by Panda Bear and Nourished by Time, and was joined by a tight live band composed of Imari Mubarak (bass), Andy Woodward (drums), and Anthony Ferraro (keyboards and backing vocals). The Valentines Day crowd was fittingly packed for his seventh show of the new year, in support of his newest album, Hole Erth, which was released in September 2024.

Known for both composing and producing all of his fresh, funky, chill-wave style grooves, Toro kicked off his set with “Mirage.” The song is a fan favorite off of his 2017 album Boo Boo, a copy of which was held tightly by a fan at the barricade hoping for an autograph (and yes, he reached out and signed the vinyl at the end of his set, much to the crowd’s delight).
Throughout the night, Toro moved through a selection of his popular work while playing a mix of his newer releases, keeping the audience moving and applauding throughout the night. The crowd erupted in deafening cheer during his renditions of “Ordinary Pleasure” and “The Difference.”

Catch Toro y Moi on the remainder of his North American tour (with a few select dates in Europe) through May.
