Alternative pop artist Summer Hoop recently released her hypnotic new single, “Mindlessly,” following on the heels of her May release, “The Pursuit of Misery.” Having previously featured on songs by Bilmuri and Lost in Separation, Hoop further establishes her own brand of edgy pop-rock in “Mindlessly,” which is the first song to be released under her new record label, Oxide Music.
The electrifying track paints a vivid image of blind devotion in love, ignoring the self-sabotage that accompanies obsession. “On my knees I worship mindlessly, I will follow you so mindlessly,” Hoop declares repeatedly against a backdrop of dark pop synths and riffs. Her vocals shine throughout the dark pop song, building to a belt of desperation in the bridge, “And no one’s gonna save me baby, I still follow mindlessly.” It’s an intoxicating spiral into a desirable madness.

Hoop uses her songs as a way to express difficult topics. “I’ve never been great at saying the hard things out loud. Whether that’s in friendships, relationships, or even with family,” Hoop continues. “Writing music is the only space where I can be brutally honest without censoring myself. It’s how I process everything I go through, because if I don’t write it down, it just sits in me.”
