Metal Inferno: A Day To Remember’s Explosive Stop in San Diego

A Day To Remember brought their Least Anticipated Album Tour to the ever-popular San Diego venue Gallagher Square at Petco Park on July 19, 2024. Alongside them were pop punk heroes The Story So Far, Four Year Strong, and Scowl. It was a well rounded evening of classic hardcore ballads, moshing and even some nice circle pits. First up was Scowl, bringing us back to the nostalgic days of true 80s punk music.

SCOWL (Franny Kovacs)

Scowl was bringing the hardcore punk vibes from Santa Cruz, California via their high energy and very ska-like and danceable music. Front-woman Kat Moss never stopped for a second, kicking and dancing over every inch of the stage while presenting a beautiful voice to contrast the upbeat, raw music. The packed crowd watched in awe and undoubtedly became instant fans, continually getting louder and louder with each song performed.

Four Year Strong (Franny Kovacs)

Up next was Four Year Strong, who are well known for their special twist of hardcore into pop punk music. They played their classic hits “Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)” and “Here Get Remembered, Legends Never Die” that had the audience screaming back every word. Vocalists and guitarists Dan O’Connor and Alan Day kicked their way through the stage alongside bassist Joe Weiss, leaving no space untouched. The crowd was in sync and ready for more singalongs to come.

The Story So Far (Franny Kovacs)

The Story So Far brought out the true emo kids in the crowd with their softer sound to accompany the raw, heartfelt lyrics. The entire audience took a breath together and truly bonded over classics “Things I Can’t Change” and “Heavy Gloom” — while rejoicing  for newest hits “All The Time” and “Watch You Go” off their latest album I Want To Disappear released earlier this year. Vocalist Parker Cannon delivered just what we expected: a cathartic experience that was memorable and uplifting all in one.

A Day To Remember (Franny Kovacs)

As A Day To Remember took the stage, they took a moment to greet their roaring audience before bursting into their popular hit “Sticks and Bricks.” Within the first few moments of the set, the crowd was caught with a beautiful confetti cannon moment that brought a sense of magic to the hardcore classic. The band continued to hit the crowd with the classics “All I Want” and “Second Sucks.” They took time between songs to showcase their likable personalities with comedic punches mixed alongside moments of gratitude upon the sea of people nestled in the San Diego skyline. Frontman Jeremy McKinnon informed the audience they wanted to play as many songs as they possibly could in their allotted 90 minute time slot — they did not disappoint in the least. Fans were floored to witness the return of their cover “Since U Been Gone,” originally performed by Kelly Clarkson. After a heartfelt singalong of “If It Means A Lot To You,” the band performed their encore of breakout classics “It’s Complicated” and “The Downfall of Us All” before bidding farewell to their loyal San Diego fanbase. Another show full of toilet paper streamers, beach balls, and t-shirt cannons marked an unforgettable experience.

A Day To Remember is wrapping up their tour this week in the midwest, however new music is upon us! Check out their newest single “Feedback” is available now on all streaming platform. The guys will also be joining a slew of legends for this year’s installment of When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas, NV and Rocklahoma in Pryor, OK.
