The day was rainy and gloomy, but that did not stop the fans of Melrose Avenue from attending their first sold-out headline tour in Europe. The band however had some issues travelling from London, which resulted in a 14 hour drive for them and arriving an hour before the doors were scheduled to open. Due to this doors opened half an hour later, first letting in the people with VIP tickets.

With the delay supporting band Comastatic also started 15 minutes later than planned, now taking to the stage at 8 PM. Unfortunately this did mean they had to scrap two songs from their setlist. The duo, vocalist Mattia Di Paolo and guitarist Giuliano “Jules” Luongo, is accompanied on stage by drummer Henry Beard. Their set started with “ZORRO,” which immediately set the tone for the night. The band released a new song today, “SWAYED,” and treated the fans to hear it live. Some fans that already knew the band were dancing and singing along, with one of them even bringing a Dutch flag with their logo on it and giving it to the band, who held it up proudly. The crowd could warm up some more during “24seven” and “Primitive,” but their short set unfortunately had nearly come to an end. Ending their set with “Self Sabotage” the fans had one last chance to dance along to maybe one of their new musical obsessions.

Just a short wait later Melrose Avenue took to the stage, starting their set with “Fool and the Beggar,” immediately followed by “Enemy.” The energy from the band was up through the roof right from the start, with the crowd dancing along and having fun in the cramped space.
After playing “Black heart” a fan at the front handed frontman Vlado Saric a raccoon plushy, which he got very excited about since raccoons are his favorite animal. He then got scared he just stole her plushy, so he double checked it was for him to keep and gave her a hug. With ‘Booktok’ growing steadily on TikTok, some musicians have played in on the trend and are promoting their songs for all the bookish girls. Saric asked the crowd if there were any BookTok fans in the venue, which got loud cheers from the audience. He then introduced the song “Taste” as one specifically written for the BookTok community.

It’s always a pleasure to see a band genuinely having fun during their shows, which is exactly what Melrose Avenue did. Between playing their songs there was also time for some laughs. After Saric spilled something on stage he wanted a towel to clean it up, asking the crowd for the Dutch translation. He then misunderstood when the crowd yelled “Handdoek” and heard “Cockring” instead, which got a good laugh from the audience. Later on someone held up a sign asking if they could teach the band a Dutch song, which honestly shouldn’t even be called a song as all they repeated was “bier en tieten la la la” (translation: beer and tits la la la), the band found this very entertaining and played along with the song.

The mood in the venue did a full 180, with the next song on the setlist being “This Is The End.” During the London show the previous day Saric cried at the last part of the song, today he cheered for himself as he made it through without tears. Fans were then treated to a new song, “Bad Guy,” which brought the energy back through the roof. Halfway through the song Saric asked if the crowd liked the song so far, which was answered by loud cheers.
The last two songs of the night were “Through Hell,” which was accompanied by a sea of phone lights and “Suffering”, which ended the night on a high. The second the band left the stage “Down Under” by Men At Work started playing over the speakers. The fans only had to wait a few minutes before the band came back to greet everyone and have a chat with the people who helped sell out this tour and make it an amazing night.
