Jack’s Mannequin and Charlotte are Made For Each Other…

After a year of touring with his high school band Something Corporate, Andrew McMahon returns to The Fillmore in Charlotte, North Carolina to a sold-out show celebrating his piano rock band Jack’s Mannequin. In an emotional reunification with band members that have transitioned with him to the Wilderness, Jack’s Mannequin was the anchor of music that signifies 20 years post McMahon’s triumphant battle with Leukemia. A harmonious chronicle of the process that nearly took his life, The MFEO Tour (Made For Each Other) had fans lined up outside early hoping for a good spot to witness the band’s reunion.

The show opener was folk-pop band, Yoke Lore, who brought soothing sounds and stellar dance moves to excite the Charlotte crowd.  Opening up Jack’s Mannequins set was the song with the namesake of Andrew McMahon’s own concert cruise, “Holiday From Real” which brought a lightness to the room. Fans continued to sing and cheer as he jumped into cult favorites, “The Mixed Tape” and “Swim”. A song that personified his tenacity during his cancer battle, and that shares hope and perseverance. Each night of tour the setlist has changed and shifted, for this evening the fans of beloved album People and Things have several songs played that haven’t been heard in many years.

Never shying away from his pop punk roots, McMahon still crowd surfs, but now he uses an inflatable llama to travel to his sound guy for a shot mid show. The night continues with video clips and photos on 3 large screens, giving a small glimpse into life on the road at that time. His retrospective approach to this tour gives Jack’s Mannequin the proper sendoff ending the show with an acoustic version of “People Running,” and an extended version of his hit “Dark Blue.” Jack’s Mannequin continues The MFEO tour through November. Andrew McMahon will take all three (Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness) bands of his to Red Rocks Amphitheater in July 2025 as well as on The Holiday From Real Cruise in February 2026.
