Hippie Sabotage Brings Enlightened Energy to San Diego on the Echoes of Time Tour

On a golden San Diego evening, Gallagher Square at Petco Park became coated in tie dye  as Hippie Sabotage brought their Echoes of Time Tour last Thursday, May 29. Known for their genre-defying mix of electronic, hip-hop, and psychedelic rock, Sacramento-born, Venice-based brothers Kevin and Jeff Saurer turned the park’s sidestage into their own personal playground.  It was the perfect setting for an unforgettable night with the absolutely chillest people in all of San Diego. Opening the night was Two Feet, setting a moody and sultry tone that would carry through to the final encore.

Two Feet, the stage name of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zachary Dess, opened the evening with a brooding, hypnotic set that immersed the crowd in his signature blend of soul, blues, and trip-hop. His smokey voice ached with authenticity, soaring perfectly alongside his bass-heavy arrangements. He played fan favorites like “Feel Like I’m Drowning” and “BBY,” delivering each note with visible emotion and intensity. There was no performative detachment; Dess lived inside every lyric, casting a spell over the audience. The minimalist lighting and cavernous beats accentuated the shadowy intimacy of his sound, creating an atmosphere that was both comfortable and raw.

As dusk turned to night, Hippie Sabotage took the stage and immediately wasted no time diving in. Jeff’s guitar work, equal parts rock and psychedelic dreamscape, meshed seamlessly with their electronic foundations, while Kevin played the role of frontman and fire-starter as he consumed every inch of the stage and took any opportunity to get into the crowd. From the explosive “Fire The Blunt” to the emotional pull of “Different,” Hippie Sabotage moved effortlessly between tracks that sparked mosh pits and those that invited quiet reflection.

But it was more than just a concert… it felt like a communal experience. Die-hard fans screamed every lyric, danced without care, and screamed toward the stage with unrelenting joy. The brothers were visibly feeding off the energy, never once dialing it back. San Diego has always held a special place in Hippie Sabotage’s heart and the feeling is mutual. Guitarist/producer Jeff Saurer once called the city home during his college years, and it was here that he wrote what would become their breakout hit, the viral “Stay High (Hippie Sabotage Remix).”

As the final notes of “Life Happens” echoed across Gallagher Square, it was clear that this show wasn’t just another stop on the Echoes of Time Tour. It was something more intimate, personal, almost like a reunion among friends. Hippie Sabotage produces the music they want with fearless intention, this night served as a reminder of just how powerful live music can be when it’s built on real connection.

As the Hippies continue to carve their path across the country, all roads now lead to Colorado, where Hippie Sabotage will headline the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater on August 22. It’s the kind of stage that demands presence and scale: both of which they’ve proven, time and again, they can deliver in spades. Don’t miss out!
