German techno-metal band Electric Callboy kicked off a new era with their riveting new single “Revery.”
Following quickly in the footsteps of their January release – the strange, catchy, and chaotic “Elevator Operator” – their latest track brings things to a new level in a twisted dark fantasy. This also marks the first song since the departure of their drummer, David-Karl Friedrich.

The song employs familiar elements from the Tekkno era – crushing instrumentals, engaging synths, and a complementary combination of clean and harsh vocals – but the overall atmosphere of the song goes in a fresh direction. The band have noted that this song is “definitely different” from their previous work, taking on a darker and more serious tone.
The single kicks off softly with a child’s voice singing the opening verse, with vocalist Nico Sallach joining in shortly after. The song goes from 0-100 in a split second with Kevin Ratajczak’s harsh vocals blasting over the upbeat verse.
Sallach belts the powerful chorus, “Revery / You took the loneliness away from me / Don’t wanna feel like a puppet / I see your leash, I’m gonna cut it.” The bridge’s breakdown brings even more edge before transitioning back into the softness that opened the song, ending with a gentler rendition of the chorus.
The music video plays with light and dark just as the song does, following a child facing off a monster in a cold, shadowy fantasy world. The sun rises at the end of the song, with the young protagonist discovering and grabbing a glowing crystal. The direction of the video also strays from their recent work – where music videos such as “We Got The Moves” and “Hurrikan” are hilariously out-there and ridiculous, “Revery” displays a serious narrative that seems to be the first chapter in an ongoing story.
No matter how light or dark, each Electric Callboy song is an adventure of its own, and “Revery” is a stunning and dynamic single that builds eager anticipation for more.
