Mac Sabbath‘s recent show at The Observatory in Orange County was a whirlwind of punk energy and fast food-inspired metal that left the audience hungry for more.
Kicking off the night were the fierce ladies of The Venomous Pinks, whose high-energy performance instantly put the audience in full mosh mode. These no-nonsense punk-rockers hail from Arizona and they are not shy to tell you what they really think. Following suit, D.I. kept the chaos going with their own brand of punk mayhem, complete with a crowd-surfing banana that perfectly captured the rebellious spirit of the evening. Founding member and vocalist Casey Royer (Adolescents, Social Distortion) performed with such fantastic energy keeping the crowd engaged throughout the performance.
When it came time, stagehands put up a carnival-like tent covering as a drape in front of the stage to prepare for Mac Sabbath — and that’s how I knew this performance was about to be epic. Led by the enigmatic Ronald Osbourne, the band delivered perfect renditions of Black Sabbath classics with a deliciously twisted fast food spin, from “Organic Funeral” (“Electric Funeral”) to “Pair-a-Buns” (“Paranoid”), and my personal favorite, “Frying Pan” (“Iron Man”).
Each member of the band embodied their fast food alter egos with impressive attention to detail, including a smoking grill with burgers and their show-stopping light productions. The band’s clever blend of intelligent comedy and head-banging music truly sets them apart, creating a one-of-a-kind experience that had the crowd roaring with laughter one moment and thrashing in the mosh pit the next. This unique show is truly unforgettable. If you have the chance to catch them live, don’t hesitate — Mac Sabbath is a must-see act that promises an experience like no other.
