On the heels of his latest album, singer-songwriter Bryce Fox is taking the Nation by storm alongside AWOLNATION on their Phantom Five Tour. The tour kicked off March 27 at the House of Blues in San Diego CA, and is scheduled to span across a total of 30 shows across the North American Region. Rounding out this fantastic lineup is the official vibe checker Makua Rothman, bringing a truly relaxed and fun aesthetic to help us transition from the regular life outside the walls to music world in the House of Blues where nothing mattered but the music.

Makua, a Hawaiian native and big wave surf champion, is gearing up to release his sophomore album and has no signs of slowing down. As he took the stage, the audience immediately felt a warmness as he began right into his music. His performance was fun, uplifting, and energetic—an invitation to dance and soak in the message behind his music.

Next up, Bryce Fox took the stage and immediately commanded attention. His career, which began with some drum lessons and simple beats over raps, has evolved over nine years into a genre-blending powerhouse. Opening with fan favorites “Golden Boy” and “Bodies,” Fox did not waste a moment of his set or an inch of the stage. He then led the audience through the dynamic highs and lows of his new album, The Butterfly and The Bomb. Hard-hitting tracks like “Psychopath” and “Butterfly” resonated deeply, while his rowdy finale with “On God” had the crowd off their feet and dancing with their neighbor. By the end of his set, those who weren’t already part of the “Fox Den” were likely heading to the merch table to make it official. As the house lights flickered on, the audience ignited and chatted amongst each other about Fox and his stellar performance. It was a great thing the house packed in early!

AWOLNATION, led by Aaron Bruno, kicked off their insane performance with “Jump Sit Stand March.” From the get go, Bruno and his bandmates Isaac Carpenter (drums), Zach Irons (lead guitar) Daniel Saslow (keyboards) and Josh Moreau (bass) were obviously ready for all of the above and then some as they covered every inch of the stage. The band later live-debuted “A Letter to No One” from their latest album, The Phantom Five. Bruno’s showmanship was on full display as his theatrical movements, commanding presence, and mic stand maneuvers kept the audience locked in. It was a clear display of passion from an artist who has spent 15 years honing in their craft. The genre-spanning set was nothing short of magical, culminating in an encore featuring the iconic “Sail.” As the final notes rang out, fans left the venue exhilarated, knowing they had witnessed something special.
As The Phantom Five Tour continues across North America, it’s clear this lineup has something special to offer. Whether it’s Makua’s infectious energy, Bryce Fox’s emotional depth, or AWOLNATION’s unmatched stage energy, this tour is a must-see for music lovers of all kinds. The tour is is continuing on through the south and will make their way up through the east coast and back with some Canadian dates along the way. There’s no excuse to miss this show!
