311 and their Unity Tour stopped in Charlotte, NC at the Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre celebrating their new album Full Bloom and 30 years of their Blue Album. Opening the show was indie rock band Sitting on Saturn who played the outdoor venue to fans as they relaxed on the lawn and met friends for drinks. Formerly known as Sitting on Stacy, the band brought their SoCal vibes to the south with lead singer Hoyt Yeatman playing the whole set shoeless.

Next up were LA natives Badflower, whose set started as the sun finally started to set in a day of record heat. This post-grunge alt band had fans littering the crowd wearing their band’s merch while dancing to their hits “Heroin” and “Detroit.” As the night began to cool, 311 opened the show with “Homebrew” into “Beautiful Disaster.”

Known for their fusion of rock, reggae, funk, and hip-hop, and the band’s ability to create an immersive concert experience, 311 kept the energy high as they connected with fans. The middle of the set had a lighthearted cover of The Cure’s classic “Lovesong.” Playing new songs like “Need Somebody” and “Full Bloom,” they also mixed in longtime fan favorites like “Amber” and closed the show with “Down.” The Unity Tour goes through the end of August; next up they head to Northeast, then to the Midwest, and ending out on the West coast.
